Duke professor Gary Hull authored recently "Muhammad: The 'Banned' Images," a critique of the Yale U Press' prostration to political correctness by censoring Jyette Klausen's "Pictures that Shocked the World." So monstrous this odious censorship that even the reliable shills at the AAUP condemned the move. According to the press release on FIRE (no pun intended. This time), the book by Hull is "A defiance against the censors, terror-mongers, and their western appeasers." The statement against the censorship that Hull wrote about has been echoed by big time names including prominent members of FIRE, Nadine Strossen, Cary Nelson, and Eugene Volokh.
The banning of the photos from the Klausen book by the YUPpies was extraordinary, but by no means surprising. Rather, simply another example of the further degradation of the higher ed.
What is also quite extraordinary is the institution one where one my find Professor Hull:
Wonderland.
We find a professor and director of a " program for values and ethics in the marketplace" (that is "values and ethics in the marketplace," not Duke, which has neither) here should take up the banner uplifting. Yet we fear for him considering the actions already taken against Klausen. We can already imagine Miriam Kooke frothing as Lubiano sharpens her claws to make sure, in the spirit of Wiegman, that Hull never again strays from the template.

Herman too
Herman's long-overdue resignation came this week, marking the fall (or pithy demotion, as it were) of another conspirator of the admission scandal.
Naturally Herman blames all but himself, and his toads in the faculty and money brokers are quick to remind us of his "accomplishments' as chancellor and provost. Such as providing incentives to low-income student applicants. Of course, Herman has done nothing to make college more affordable to anyone, much less the less-fortunate. Indeed for someone who get paid almost a half-million dollar income a year plus severance and compensation, yet constantly screams on the hardships facing higher-ed, we have to wonder what exactly the kind of help he has brought. Considering that tuition is now roughly 6.5% in advance, what possible justification could Herman's devoted sycophants have to tout his contribution to improving the lives of any member of the university other than his own cabal?
Ironic that according to University press release, Herman will join the College of Education. There he will join another disgraced criminal administrator-turned teacher, Gene Amberg. Not to mention the rest of the golden-parachute faculty including:
Avijit Ghosh
Heidi Hurd
Larry DeBrock

Bye Bye BJ
The main news of the day is the resignation of Bernie White (the News-Gazette's
"White Out" was a headlined article worth lamination.) Resignation seems a bit inadequate, given his role in ruining the UI. He still will be considered faculty, which we owe White's appointment to the University in the first place. Ostracizing from the ILL would be more appropriate.
Nevertheless, this ranks among several other great days. Like this one. And this one.

Pimping ain't Easy
Friday's major headlines (except for ABC and NBC) was the sting operation that exposed some nuts in ACORN to be in the process of offering tax advise to illegal prostitution and human trafficking groups. The people in question were under cover, but has started a long-overdue review of the practices of ACORN and its affiliates.
Some of the more interesting responses was the Census Bureau severing its ties with the group, saying this latest scandal was "the tipping point."
The US Senate just passed an amendment to block funding to ACORN in a Housing an Urban Development bill. The vote was a whopping 83-7.
Two of the mangy senators who voted against the amendment were none other than ILL own homegrown Roland Burris (a senator who has no democratic authority to vote on anything), and Dick the Dick Durbin, who as we have already posted, has openly declared he values the votes of Mickey Mouse and the Minnesota Vikings more than he does with meeting his own constituents.

White's defense was that he was only responsible because he was the superior administrator. Never once did White make any mention that he had testified at the Mikva inquiries that he was using his position to admit extended family members.
Though non-binding, this vote surely will put significant pressure on the new Board of Trustees.
However, this resolution leaves some noticeable gaps, especially the involvement of people such as Ghosh, DeBrock, Hurd, Hardy, and Kaler.

Pressler still a winning Coach
A often overlooked, but nonetheless important victim of the Duke Lacrosse Hoax:
Mike Pressler.
Pressler, who had to endure his family being threatened by rogue Duke students (whom the Skunk, the Water Buffalo amply rewarded with a seat on the now-debunked Campus Culture Inquisition or CCI as Brodhead calls it).
Having been fired (not resigned as Duke claims) for not prejudging his own players, Pressler settled with Duke for his wrongful termination. And that was that.
Enter the Flying squirrel.
Now Pressler has one the go ahead and sue for slander after a judge has ruled that Burness had broken the terms of the settlement by making disparaging statements about Pressler.
